Rigging Hardware

Popular Rigging Hardware

Rigging hardware is used in the setting up of rigging for stage lighting ensembles. Because of the obvious need to meet safety standards when setting up rigging, it is essential that the right kind of rigging hardware is used by the operatives.

Truss rigging hardware consists of various different pieces of equipment. An assortment of couplers is needed to attach the various steel and aluminum tubes together. Couples come in different shapes and styles, so that the tubes can be attached end to end or at various points along the length of the tube. Magic bolts are also important rigging hardware as these are used to secure fixtures to the rigging.

Other bits of rigging hardware include the spanset, shackles, stac chain and guywire, which are used for attaching equipment to rigging. Steelflex, which is a type of Strong metal sling, is used to suspend equipment from trusses overhead.

Truss pins and bolts are important rigging hardware as these allow for trusses to be fitted together and adapted according to the needs of the scaffolder, while pin extractors are the tools used to put trusses together and take them apart.

Truss lifting points are useful rigging hardware for when heavy trusses need to be lifted easily. They are an alternative to the synthetic round-shaped slings which were previously used, as they provide a hard attachment which is more secure. These lifting points can be secured to the top chord or the bottom of trusses, and are available in sizes ranging from 12? to 30?.
